Psilocybin and its possible medical value
Magic Truffles give a feeling of bliss. Us magic truffle lovers already knew that off course. The active ingredient psilocybin will open your mind. This can be used for purely recreational purposes, but it can also be used for more useful things.
A pilot study of the UCLA Medical Center and the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute has shown that the hallucinogen psilocybin may be appropriate in the treatment of cancer patients and patients with anxiety disorders.
“In recent years, there has been a growing awareness that the psychological, spiritual and existential crises often encountered by patients with cancer and their families need to be addressed more vigorously”, the researchers write in the article. Study of the effects of hallucinogens on the mood of very ill patients is not new. In the 50’s and 70’s studies were conducted that showed that these substances had a beneficial effect on mood and fears of seriously ill patients. After no follow-up research was conducted, therefore pushing the results back into the background. Now the study is powered up again. The researchers have studied the effect of psilocybin on a group of 12 adults in a profound stage of cancer.
The participants were researched in a number of sessions with both psilocybin and placebo capsules. Physiological responses such as heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature were measured during the experiment. After the experiment, psychological variables such as mood and anxiety were measured. The outcome of the research is that a certain dose of psilocybin certainly help to reduce anxiety in cancer patients. This is a tentative conclusion. The study provides a good opportunity to further investigate the possible long term effects.
We obviously hope that the effects of our Magic Truffles can help people with a serious illness. We’ll wait and see.
