Learning how to preserve magic mushrooms will also allow you to have a deeper connection with the substance that will take you on a mind-opening intoxicating journey. Storing psychedelic mushrooms can be a tricky process if you don’t know how to perform it properly.
Less informed people who attempt storing magic mushrooms end up damaging them, diminishing their psilocybin content, or leave them to rot. For these reasons, magic mushroom preservation is an important proficiency for any budding psychonaut.
How to Store Fresh Truffles and Magic Mushrooms?
Storing Magic Mushrooms in a Fridge

Storing magic mushrooms and truffles when they’re fresh is pretty easy. You can simply place the magic mushrooms or truffles in a paper bag and store them in a cool, dark, and dry place such as your refrigerator. When stored through this method, the psychedelic fungi can last up to a month.
Storing magic mushrooms in the fridge requires a temperature between 2 to 4 degrees C.
If you don’t have any paper bags, it’s a good alternative to place the mushrooms and truffles on unbleached kitchen paper. Wrapping these psychedelic fungi up is important because the fridge can accumulate excess moisture and cause damage to the shrooms. They can either lose their potency or become quite appealing to contaminants who might want to take over them and ruin an entire batch!
By placing magic mushrooms on paper, you can greatly avoid this risk.
Vacuum Storing Magic Mushrooms

If you want to store your magic mushrooms longer than a month, you can invest in a food vacuum packer. When magic truffles are vacuum-sealed in a Ziploc bag, they can last for up to 3 months.
However, magic mushrooms need to be dried properly to prevent bacteria from growing on them and to allow longer storage.
How to Store Dried Truffles and Magic Mushrooms
Drying Magic Mushrooms

If you want to preserve magic mushrooms for those special dates, drying is the best option. Dried psychedelic truffles and mushrooms can last for 3 years and maybe even long. Drying magic mushrooms is a great way to promote their longevity because when magic mushrooms lose moisture, they also stop decomposing. But face it… who would want to leave psychedelic fungi sitting idly inside their cabinets instead of inside their mouths?
However, long-term storage of dried magic mushrooms also faces some risks if done improperly. Some of these risks include insect infestation, and loss of potency due to light, moisture and heat exposure.
The key to properly drying magic mushrooms is to avoid using direct heat… or any heat for that matter. Keep reading to find out how to dry magic mushrooms. Drying mushrooms is composed of two general phases: pre-drying and the actual drying process.
- How to Pre-Dry Magic Mushrooms:
- Put the magic mushrooms on a clean tray in front of a fan.
- Turn on the fan. If the environment has a temperature of 30 degrees C, you can expect most of the moisture to leave the magic mushrooms in a few hours.
- You will know if the magic mushrooms have been pre-dried if they have taken on a rubbery texture and appearance.
- How to Dry Magic Mushrooms:
- Cut two layers of aluminum insect screen. Make sure it fits inside a clean Tupperware.
- Put one sweet stacker in each corner of the Tupperware. You should have a total of four sweet stackers inside the Tupperware.
- Put another layer of aluminum screen.
- Put a layer of silica gel on top of it. Silica gel can be purchased from any general store or from Amazon.
- Put another layer of sweet stackers in every corner.
- Put the second layer of aluminum screen.
- Place the pre-dried magic mushrooms over it.
- Close the Tupperware and make sure there aren’t any leaks or openings where moisture can come in.
- The silica gel will absorb the moisture from the shrooms. This is a slow process and can take weeks to complete. You’ll know if you have thoroughly dried the magic mushrooms and truffles if they crack when you try to bend them.
That’s all there is to it!
Other Methods of Storing Magic Mushrooms and Magic Truffles
If storing fresh and dried magic mushrooms is not enough for you, there are other methods worth exploring.
Freezing Magic Mushrooms

Psychonauts who aren’t satisfied with drying magic mushrooms go the extra mile and resort to freezing them.
Magic truffles and magic mushrooms need to be fully dried before freezing them otherwise, the moisture will destroy the psychedelic fungi from the inside. It will also destroy their cells and lead to a huge decline in potency. You can follow the magic mushroom drying method written above.
Once fully dried, place the shrooms in a Ziploc bag and place them inside a freezer. Once frozen, these shrooms and truffles can keep their psychedelic effects indefinitely.
Storing Magic Mushrooms with Freon
Freon, the substance that makes air conditioning cool, can also be used to preserve magic truffles and magic mushrooms. This substance prevents psilocybin from breaking down. All you need are some Ziploc bags, a weighing scale, and a can of Freon-based dust removal products such as Vari-Air.
Simply place 5 grams of pre-dried magic mushrooms inside a Ziploc bag and flatten the bag as much as possible. Insert the nozzle of the Freon dust removal spray, zip it as far as you can, and blast it with Freon until it’s 25% inflated. Remove the nozzle and squeeze out the Freon inside.

Storing magic truffles and magic mushrooms in chocolate is perfect if you’re the type of psychonaut who likes to toe the line between health and diabetes. Kidding aside, it’s an ideal storage method for people who have a sweet tooth and for those who want to sneak in magic mushrooms to any occasion.
You won’t need much to store magic mushrooms in chocolates. All you’d need are pre-dried magic mushrooms or magic truffles, chocolates of your favorite brand, a coffee grinder, a saucepan, a stove, and a small ice tray.
Start by grinding the magic mushrooms and the chocolates separately. Melt the ground up chocolates in a saucepan on low heat. Once the chocolates have melted, quickly remove the saucepan from the flame and sprinkle the magic mushrooms. Transfer the mixture into the ice cube trays which will serve as the mold. Store in a freezer.
Magic mushrooms stored in chocolate can last up to 6 months or until the chocolates’ expiration date. Dark chocolate has a higher cocoa content and is more acidic thus making the effects of magic mushrooms set in faster!

Hi,
I bought some truffles exactly 4 months ago. They were vacuum sealed and never opened. Well they still be ok? What’s the worst that could happen?
Hi, if our dried mushrooms came to us vacuum sealed, do they need to be in a freezer, or can they keep at room temperature?
Hi I ordered Utopia and Atlantis truffles about 3 months ago and stored them in the freezer. I took them out today and there is ice inside the sealed package. Did I ruin my truffles? Will they still work?
Hi, I have bought the grow kit. There are no instructions with it. Is it just the online instructions? Are there no diagrams etc.?
Also, once harvested, how long can the truffles be stored in the fridge, in air tight Tupperware with kitchen roll? I have seen differing time scales.
Thanks
Hello Peter just wanna let you know that I think you guys are just wonderful thank you for everything

Hi, after the first harvest, is it okay if i close the lid and do the same process after a few days or weeks even or do i need to keep making it soon after the first harvest?
The kits should be used as soon as they are opened or the package might become contaminated.
